Malik Martin, JD, PhD – Principal

I am a strategist, lawyer, and social scientist who applies my broad experience across the private, public and nonprofit sectors to guide people and organizations through growth and transformation.

A former McKinsey & Co. management consultant, I have over 15 years of experience across private sector and public service environments in Canada and the United States, having held positions in academia, the United States federal public service, and professional services firms.

Before joining McKinsey, I was a partner in a civil and commercial litigation boutique in Toronto, where I appeared before all levels of court in Ontario and was named one of the top Canadian litigators under 40. I have also served as a clerk to a US federal judge, and as a lawyer in the New York University Office of General Counsel and the US Internal Revenue Service.

I have served as a board or committee member for non-profits and professional associations, including The Advocates’ Society and the Toronto Public Library Foundation, where I am currently co-Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee.

A native Californian and dual Canadian/US citizen, I hold a JD from Harvard Law School, a Ph.D. in Sociology from Yale University, an AB and MA from Stanford University, and am called to the Ontario and New York bar.
